The Rams' odds to win the NFC West and secure the No. 1 seed cratered on Thursday night with their 38-37 loss to the Seahawks.

If the Rams finish 2-0, the Seahawks finish 1-1, and the 49ers and Bears both finish 2-1, no one can catch the Rams for the NFC West title or the No. 1 seed. It’s not likely, but it’s also nowhere near impossible.

The teams that are essentially already playing in the postseason all emerged victorious in Week 15. They did so with varying degrees of success, but the end results were what they needed to be. And then,

If these two things happen, the 49ers would finish 13-4 and win the NFC West over a 13-4 Rams team based on the division record tiebreaker. If the Seahawks also finish 13-4 in this scenario, the 49ers would have swept them, so they'd win any tiebreaker with Seattle. At 7-to-1 odds to win the NFC West, the 49ers feel like a steal.

Back in Weeks 4 and 5 we saw two Thursday night bangers between NFC West squads. In Week 4, the Seattle Seahawks beat the Arizona Cardinals 23-20, and the next week the San Francisco 49ers took out the Los Angeles Rams 26-23 in overtime.

The Seattle Seahawks won't have left tackle Charles Cross for multiple weeks due to injury, and that's bad news for the Seahawks' offense and, in turn, their hopes of winning the NFC West and No. 1 seed in the conference.
