VCFD conducted US Lifeguard Association training for new members of our ocean rescue cadre earlier this week. Firefighters received 5 days (40 hours) of training which included conscious and unconscious victim rescues, rescue swimmer procedures from RWCs and boats, and much more. The weather did not stop participants from the Marine Rescue Lifeguard Academy yesterday as they completed their last practical exam, "The Gauntlet," before graduating. The practical exam tested the participants' ability to respond to different scenarios they might encounter while on the job.
